Norman G. Gans, of Ft. Myers, FL, died on January 9, 2014 after a long illness. He was 89. Born in Port Chester, NY to Joseph & Flora Gans in 1924. Norman was an Eagle Scout and a decorated combat veteran serving in the US Army during WWII, he was awarded the Purple Heart for critical wounds received in the Hurtgen Forest in Germany.
Norman and his brother Irwin were partners in the daily operations of the Greenwich Oil Co., in Greenwich, CT.
Norman was an avid boater and member of the Greenwich Boat Club in Greenwich, CT. He also was a midget pace car owner and builder as a hobby.
He is survived by Irwin, Marion, Eddy, Robert and Julie Gans, his step son Peter and step daughter Nina. He resided at the Landing’s in Ft Myers, FL and he is lovingly remembered by his devoted companion and friend, Barbara Mantel. He was predeceased by his wife Athalie Gans in 1988
