John J. Vivolo, of New Rochelle, NY, sadly passed away on April 22, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in the Bronx to the late John and Alice (nee Rae) Vivolo. John was a member of the American Legion and volunteered at Hope Community Services both in New Rochelle. He is survived by his loving wife Noreen (nee Sullivan), two cherished children; Jennifer (Adam) Carsen and Jeremy (Amy) Vivolo, three grandchildren; Jonathan and Ryan Carsen and Raegan Vivolo, and two siblings Thomas (Nancy) Vivolo and Alice (Robert) Frambach. Vincent M. Pizzi of Mamaroneck, passed away on April 24, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was 84. Born in NYC to Vincenzo and Marianina Pizzi. Vincent proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was one of the founding fathers of the Italian City Club of Yonkers and the president of the Mount St. Michael Academy Men’s Club. He was also actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America at St. Paul the Apostle in Yonkers. He had a career as a successful management professional in a number of business organizations. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years Joan (nee Baker) Pizzi and loving children Vincent Pizzi and Ann Palancia (Joseph). He was predeceased by his cherished siblings, Giulio, Agatha, Santa and Frank Pizzi. Sonia Gazzola, of New Rochelle passed away on April 25, 2014. She was born in the Bronx to the late Aniello and Filomena (nee-Iandoli) Cappello. In 1972, Sonia began her professional career as a library aid at the Mayflower School in New Rochelle. She then became a bookkeeper for the City School District of New Rochelle moving on to becoming the senior bookkeeper in 1984 and retiring in 2008. Sonia is survived by her loving sons Robert (Sylvia) and George Gazzola, three grandchildren; Nicholas, Marisa and Isabella Gazzola, her sister Olga Parulo and many nieces and nephews. Sonia is also predeceased by six siblings; Salvatore, Rocky, Leo, John Cappello, Clara Pernice and Sally Mucaria. Jennie Troilo, 89, of Mamaroneck, New York, passed away on April 27, 2014. She was born on February 25, 1925 to the Late Euclide and Mary (nee- Michelli) Brondoli. Jennie was married to the late Frank Pascale of Harrison in 1944 and is survived by three children; Susan Pascale, Ronald (Dorothy) Pascale and Joan Pascale (Richard) Goldstein, four grandchildren; Michael (Kim) Pascale, Ronnie (Stacey) Pascale, Aimee Pascale and Chloe Goldstein, two great grandchildren;Tabatha and Brayden Pascale. Jennie married the late Domonic Troilo in 1967 and is survived two step-children; Nicholas (Emily) Troilo and Lois Troilo, a brother-in-law Gus (Tizziana) Troilo and a sister in law, Karen Troilo. Jennie graduated from Mamaroneck High School and then worked as a legal secretary in Larchmont, NY. She was a generous, loving person, who cherished her family and friends and loved entertaining and celebrating with them. Filomena “Amelia” Sommella, a longtime Mamaroneck resident, sadly passed away on April 24, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was 87. Born in San Lupo, Benevento, Italy to Lorenzo and Carmela Tomasiello. Amelia emigrated to the U.S. in 1957. She was a devout parishioner of Most Holy Trinity RC Church and was also a member of the Sacred Heart Society of St. Vito’s. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 52years Lupo Sommella. Survived by her devoted children Roseann Denaro (Salvatore) and Sonia Orsini (Rino), cherished grandchildren, Paul, Daniela, Claudia, Jeanette and Giovanni and her five great grandchildren. Joseph proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean war. Was the Proprietor of Joseph V. Valentino Roofing Co, Inc. in Mamaroneck. He was a very accomplished man, the list of his acolytes is immense; published author, copy written songwriter, an environmentalist with many patented inventions pertaining to the environment. Most of all he took great pride in his garden every year and was known for his mouth watering tomatoes. Pietro “Peter” Zagaroli, of Harrison, passed away May 2, 2014 at age 87. Born February 2, 1927 in Roccasecca, Frosinone, Italy to Gaetano & Tomasina Zagaroli. Peter served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. A talented baker, he was the proprietor of Peter & Sons Bakery in Mamaroneck. He is the beloved husband of 60 yearrs to Antoinette (Giorgi). In addition to his wife he leaves behind his devoted children, Gaetano (Gina) Zagaroli, Thomas Zagaroli, Anna (Mario) DeLio and Carmella (Raymond) Stenroos, seven grandchildren and sister, Antoinetta Giorgio (Raymond, deceased). He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Shirley Donohue of Rye, NY, died on April 27, 2014. She was 90. Born in Gloucester, MA on February 3, 1924 to the late Charles and Julia (Joy) Rice. A graduate of Boston University and Massachusetts General Nursing School, Shirley was a Navy Nurse and worked in several doctor’s offices in New York City. Shirley was the beloved wife of the late Charles Francis Donohue of Long Island. Survived by her three children; Mary, William (Bonnie) and Ann Donohue; brother, James Rice; her grandchildren, Charles John and Rose; as well as nieces and nephews. Angelo Rigano
Angelo Rigano, a lifetime Mamaroneck resident, passed away April 14, 2014, at age 101. Born June 29, 1912 to Santo & Gaetana Rigano. He graduated from Mamaroneck High School, where he was a football player. Angelo worked with his brothers building houses in Westchester. He joined the Army and served his country in Europe during WWII. He was active in American Legion Post 347, where he served as Commander for several years. He changed careers in the 60’s, studying computers. He worked as a Computer Operator for Ciba-Geigy in Ardsley, from which he retired in 1977. After retirement, Angelo worked part time at Foley’s Hardware in Larchmont, where he enjoyed sharing his knowledge from years of building homes with the customers who came to him for advice. Angelo is the beloved husband of Rosemarie (Russo). In addition to his wife he is survived by his devoted daughter, Rita Anne Rigano (Ronald Katz). Loving grandfather of David, Paul & Julie Rigano. He was predeceased by his siblings Joseph, Charles, Philip, Mary, Lola Proch, Catherine Mahrlig, and Frances Gironda. Marte Jasper Melegrito at age 42 has joined our Creator on May 10, 2014.He is survived by his loving wife Glynn, two young children; Mathew and Joshua and hundreds of friends and colleagues. Marte was a resident of Mamaroneck, NY and hailed originally from the Philippines. He will always be remembered for his great gift of friendship, his laughter, humility, and sweet smile but most of all as a loving husband, doting father, and a true friend and caring physical therapist who will always be remembered by so many of his patients that he had helped in NY and Westchester County. Marte also had plenty of interests ranging from music to movies and sports. He was an excellent golfer, had great low post basketball moves, can belt out tough songs and a superb taste for clothes. Anthony F. Chiodo, entered into eternal rest on May 12, 2014, surrounded by his loving family after an 8 year battle with cancer. Born November 2, 1934 in East Harlem, he was the youngest child of Luigi & Dora Chiodo. On February 14, 1960 he married his “Bride”, Mary Bove, at St. Ann’s Church in East Harlem. Anthony was employed for 39 years at The New York Daily News as facilities manager, retiring in 1969. After his brief retirement, Anthony joined Ogilvy & Mather where he worked until 1998. In retirement he spent his time volunteering at Sarah Neuman Nusring Home bringing patients to daily Mass. A faithful believer in Christ, he was a loyal and devoted parishioner of Sts. John & Paul RC Church where he would open the church daily and prepare for Mass. Anthony is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Mary, and loving children, Donna Persico (Matthew), Geraldine Dymes (Kevin) and Christopher Chiodo (Kerri), He is predeceased by his infant daughter, Maria. He is the adored and cherisehd Papa of Anthony & Michael Persico, Kate, Maggie & Joseph Dymes, and Kaitlyn, Cameron, Alice & Meghan Chiodo.
